Club captain

Ben Woodhouse

After some solid recruitment this winter, the 1s are looking forward to getting to grips with what is looking likely to be a very competitive Southern Premier League Divison 1 in 2025. And to a successful season to celebrate the club's 175th anniversary.

Combining the new recruits with our existing crop including the returning Dinny - VCC's overseas player for a fourth year in a row -  the squad now has a good blend of youth and experience.

After two years of consolidation back in Division 1, the 1s will look to avoid basement battles in 2025 and to make steady progress towards the upper half of the table. The guys have wintered well and there is a very positive atmosphere around the group. We are all looking forward to the challenges of the 2025 season.

1st XI

Southern Premier League Division 1

Led by captain Ben Woodhouse the team boasts a formidable blend of seasoned stalwarts and emerging talents. Our squad embodies the essence of Ventnor Cricket Club’s ethos: resilience, unity, and a relentless pursuit of greatness. Each player brings dedication, skill and discipline, ready to shine in 2025.

Having fought hard to stay in the league the 1st XI will again be competing in Southern Premier Division One for the 2025 season.

2nd XI

Hampshire League Division 2 South

In 2024, VCC's 2nd XI continued its journey upwards through the divisions of the Hampshire League, winning the Division South 3 title, after a few tough seasons pre Covid.

The team blends the best of the club’s younger players with those with many years of league cricket (and a few club records) under their belts. They are always looking to enjoy themselves while keeping an eye on the serious goal of progressing through the divisions.

Having secured a second successive promotion in 2024 under skipper Ben 'Lofty' Davies, with some spectacular team and individual performances, in 2025 the 2nds will play in the recently restructured  Division 2 South in 2025.

3rd XI

Isle of Wight Cricket League Division 1

Under the new captaincy of Gary Legg, Ventnor's 3rd XI will again compete in the Island's first division in 2025, the club's 175th anniversary year.

Building on the steady progress of post-Covid seasons, the team is very optimistic about further development in 2025. It aspires to be competitive in everything and to callenge for the top spots of the island while still having fun.

The 3rds combines the experience of club stalwarts with the potential of young prospects emerging from VCC's flourising youth and junior section.

4th XI

Isle of Wight Cricket League Division 2

In 2024, VCC made club history by running four Saturday League sides for the very first time.  Under the captaincy of Adam Goulding, the 4ths performed with great credit in IW League Division 2, concluding their maiden season with a run of four victories in July/August.

As hoped it proved a perfect level for the club to introduce emerging young talent from its junior section and also for seniors seeking a return to competitive cricket after an absence.

For 2025, and now under the captaincy of Nick Dobson, the 4ths will again feature in IW Division 2.  The team aspires to provide a welcoming environment for players young and old.  Enquiries from prospective new players are especially welcome. To club cricket chair, Rob Snell, please.
