Learning new skills. Making new friends. Having a lot of fun while doing so. All while sampling the fabulous and welcoming facilities on offer at Ventnor CC - the Island's leading club - with international players involved in coaching and family fun sessions with Bar/BBQ.
These are the goals of the ECB's (*) All Stars (5-8 year olds) and Dynamos (8-11 year olds) introduction-to-cricket programmes. Both programmes - plus a Girls-Only Dynamos - return to Ventnor's Steephill Ground again this summer.
Nationwide, over 100,000 children took part in these programmes last year. And this year, Toyota - fronted by Joanna Lumley no less - is supporting the programmes. You can see Joanna's take here.
ALL STARS - Wednesdays 4:30-5:15 pm (13 May-01 July)
All Stars Cricket for 5-8 year-olds "provides a fantastic first experience for all children aged 5-8 years old where they’re guaranteed eight weeks of jam-packed fun, activity and skills development." The programme is designed to introduce children to the sport. Every participant receives a personalised playing kit including:
- T-Shirt (available in a range of sizes)
- Backpack Bag
- Bat
- Ball.

DYNAMOS - Wednesdays 4:30-5:30 pm (13 May-01 July)
Like All-Stars, Dynamos - for 8-11 year-olds - majors on skills, fun and a strong social environment. It also introduces participants to 'countdown cricket' - a simplified version of cricket where the number of balls left in the innings is counted down. That is from 60 (in the case of Dynamos Cricket). So everyone knows how long is left in the game. The team with the most runs wins. Every participant receives a customised T-shirt.

GIRLS-ONLY DYNAMOS - Thursdays 5-6 pm (14 May-02 July)
For those who prefer, the club will also be running a girls-only Dynamos programme. Which is everything you get in Dynamos. Just girls-only.

PARENTS AND CARERS TOO
And if you fancy it, you can join in too. Having fun, helping out and maybe creating memories that will last a lifetime. The programmes positively encourage parents and carers to join in - officially they're called 'parent activators'. And no previous knowledge of cricket required!
