Head of Ladies Cricket

Ruth Noyes

"Over the last 2-3 years, it’s been a real pleasure to see the growth of interest in the game amongst women and girls cricket in the Ventnor area.   So much so that this year we’ll be fielding both Under 11 and Under 15 sides in the Girls Leagues, with some of our players playing in the Open Leagues as well.

We work closely with The Island Free School and local primary schools in developing and extending their cricket experience.

Now it’s time for the next step up and we have been really pushing Ladies involvement, with increased numbers attending Ladies practice night on Thursdays 8-9pm

This year we hope to field both a Ladies softball team and a full Ladies XI playing hardball cricket.

Our hardball team will mix those with some experience, some enthusiasts and some promising junior talent.   We’re looking forward to it."

Ladies XI

Hardball and softball

Extending the rapid growth of girls and women’s cricket at Ventnor CC, Season 2025 marks the third year of the club’s Ladies XI.  The Ladies play both hardball and softball cricket: so there is something for everyone.  (From April 24th, training will be on Thursdays from 6-7pm).

Under the leadership of Ruth Noyes, the team will again compete in the Isle of Wight Women’s League.  There it will meet the likes of Arreton, Ryde and Newport CC.

In addition, we will welcome back a number of visiting teams to Steephill (Wellow Ladies, West Wittering) and also look forward to playing Fair Oak later in the season.

Look out for their appearances at Steephill and come and give them a cheer.  And if you fancy a go - even if you've never held a cricket-bat or bowled a ball - let us know and come on down to give it a go.
