Junior Cricket

VCC’s Junior Section

VCC’s Junior Section comprises both boys XIs (U11, U13 and two U15 sides) and a more recent, fast-growing girls’ group.  There are both U11 and U15 girls’ teams.   All six XIs participate in the various Isle of Wight junior Leagues and Cups.

In the winter months,  training sessions runs as follows:

  • U11 Boys & Girls, Wednesdays 5-6pm (Coaches: Martin Blackman, Gary Legg and Ruth Noyes)
  • Girls, Thursdays 7-8pm (Ruth Noyes)
  • U13/U15, Saturdays 10am-12 noon (Duncan Mills++)

There are also opportunities to play in the Island Indoor Leagues which begin each November.  This year (2024/25), the club is running U12, U14 (x2) and U13 and U15 girls teams (five in all).

The club is also actively involved in two introductory ECB programmes: All Stars (designed to introduce 5-8s to cricket) and Dynamos (the next step for 8-11s.

It means that there’s something for everyone. Whatever their experience. So do come on down to Steephill and join our thriving junior section. More from junior coordinator Kate Marshall.
