VENTNOR CC REPORT

MIDDLETON PUTS VENTNOR TO THE SWORD

Ventnor suffered a comprehensive 213 run defeat in their Southern Premier League Division One
encounter with Fair Oak at a baking Steephill on Saturday.

Hampshire’s Fletcha Middleton hammered twelve fours and four sixes in an impressive 105 ball
knock of 116 as the visitors totalled a daunting 331 from 49.2 overs. Off spinner Dan Cox did his
best to stem the flow of runs with 4-49.

With Dineth Thimodya unable to bat after a recurrence of a finger injury, the Ventnor reply hit early
trouble and never recovered. A stand of 50 for the ninth wicket between Alex Stogdon with 46 and
Charlie Calloway (27) temporarily held up the visitors but an all-out total of just 118 in less than 28
overs represented a game to move on from for the hosts.

The Club wish to thank Tony and Sally Thatcher for their match sponsorship.

SECOND TEAM BACK TO WINNING WAYS

After last week’s disappointing result, Ventnor’s second team bounced back with an 84 run win at
Portsmouth & Southsea II in Hampshire League Division 2B.

Defending a modest total of 163 with Martin Blackman (54) and Kevin Cooper (48) top scoring, Oliver
McQuillan took two early wickets for the visitors before Thomas Southcott (3-14), Ian Hailes (2-10)
and Aaron Hartup (2-23) worked their way through the rest of the Portsmouth & Southsea order.

With the bowlers supported by sharp fielding and several fine catches, the hosts were dismissed for
79 inside 27 overs.

WINS FOR VENTNOR’S THIRD AND FOURTH TEAMS - TOM NOYES AND HARRISON

MCQUILLAN OUTSTANDING

Ventnor’s third team defeated Wight Whizzers by 97 runs in Saturday’s Senior Cup Group match at
Porchfield.

Young Tom Noyes continued his fine early season form with an excellent innings of 96 as his side
reached 224-6 from 40 overs.

That set up Harrison McQuillan to produce an outstanding seven over spell of seam bowling. The
Ventnor teenager took 7-24 as the Whizzers were bowled out for 127.

There was also a convincing victory for Ventnor’s fourth team against Northwood II in the Fred Winter
Cup Quarter Finals.

Oliver Gyomber (3-19), Alfie Toulson (2-32) and Lucas Cotton (2-32) helped to dismiss the Cowes
side for 127, paving the way for Adam Goulding with 62 not out and Jake Toulson (43) to win the tie
by eight wickets.

CUP SUCCESS FOR VENTNOR’S UNDER 13 BOYS

Ventnor defeated Cowes by 13 runs in Monday’s Plate Semi Final at the Community Club.

Monty Cornes and Max Doorly top scored with 30 and 23 respectively in the visitors total of 108-6,
while Ed Newton took two wickets and conceded just three runs as the home team were restricted to
95-9.
